Alex Walker
Founder
With a vision for building something meaningful, founder Alex Walker brings a rare blend of artistic leadership and lifelong performance experience to NYCRO. A professional double bassist who has been immersed in music since childhood, Alex combines deep musical expertise with a passion for expanding opportunities for freelance musicians and producing world-class orchestral recordings.
Alex studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he refined both his technical skill and artistic voice. His development has been shaped by mentorship from some of the most respected figures in the field, including Homer Mensch of Juilliard and the New York Philharmonic; Bob Ricardi, Principal Bassist of the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Baltimore Symphony; and Robert Nairn of the Juilliard School, Penn State University, and former principal bassist with Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society.
As a performer, Alex has appeared with the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia and brings valuable Broadway experience to his work, adding versatility and a deep understanding of both classical and commercial performance settings.
Drawing on this rich foundation, Alex leads NYCRO with a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation - creating a space where exceptional musicians can thrive and where clients receive recordings of the highest caliber.
